September 18, 2018 Stanislav Zhelnio, the IVA Technologies expert, gave a lecture for students of the 4th course of the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE).
The lecture was a part of the general course "System Design of Digital Devices" and was devoted to the microarchitecture of the simplest processor using the example of the schoolMIPS project.
SchoolMIPS is an opensource RISC-core, created for teaching the basics of digital technology. Initially built as the ultimate simplified version of the single-cycle processor Sarah Harris from the textbook "Digital Circuitry and Computer Architecture," currently exists in six versions. Last of which has pipeline implementation with the controller of interruptions and support of the bus AHB-Lite. The study of this kernel involves a step-by-step transition from the simplest version to the most complex one.
At the end of the lecture, Stanislav shared with the audience information about the work on the tensor processor in the company, as well as his personal experience related to the development of chips.
